The Saskatchewan Students stream targets the international students who have recently completed their graduation from Canadian education institution and having work experience in Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan Student stream of Saskatchewan Experience is one of several immigration streams of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program(SINP), a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) operated by the province of Saskatchewan. The Student stream targets international students who have completed their graduation from the recognized post-secondary educational institution of Canada. The candidate must also have work for at least 6 months in Saskatchewan.

The Student stream has different eligibility requirements depending on the candidate whether the candidate has completed their Candian education in the Saskatchewan or in the other province of Canada

Graduation From Saskatchewan

Connection To Province

The candidate must have been graduated from the recognized post-secondary educational institution of Saskatchewan. The candidate must hold a valid post-secondary work permit issued by IRCC.

Job Offer

To be eligible for this stream, the candidate must provide a job offer from the Saskatchewan employer that demonstrates the offer of employment and the Job Approval Letter issued by the SINP. The job offer must be a permanent and full-time for the occupation position the applicant is already working for. The job offer must for the occupation position of :

  • NOC Code for the National Occupation Classification (NOC) Matrix level “A”, “B”, “0” or
  • for a designated trade (mentioned below)
  • relevant to the field of study and requires a post-secondary education

The Job Approval Letter will be issued by registering position in the SINP Online Portal by the applicant’s employer which will be assessed by the SINP. On approval, the SINP will issue the Job Approval Letter to the employer.

Language Proficiency

If the applicant’s job offer is for the occupation at NOC Skill Level 0, A or B, then the applicant does not require to demonstrate any language proficiency. If the applicant’s job offer is for the occupation at NOC Skill Level C, the applicant must demonstrate the language proficiency level in all four competencies – writing, reading, listening, and speaking with the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 or higher through the valid test results obtained within the last two years prior to the applying of application.

The language proficiency must be demonstrated through the following valid English or French test:

  • For English:
    • International English Language Testing (IELTS) – General Training test only
    • Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) – General test only
  • For French:
    • Test d’évaluation de français pour le Canada (TEF Canada)
    • Test de connaissance du français pour le Canada (TCF Canada)

Level of Education

To be eligible for the Student Stream, the applicant must have completed a degree, diploma or certificate program from a recognized post-secondary educational institute of Saskatchewan.

Work Experience

The applicant must have worked for at least 6 months (or 960 hours) in Saskatchewan which must be paid employment. The work experience will be considered eligible if it includes one of the following:

  • On-Campus;
  • Off-Campus;
  • Co-op terms;
  • Graduate fellowship which must be verified by the applicant’s institution; or
  • Work-experience while working on a Post-Graduate Work Permit.

Graduation From Other Province of Canada (Outside Saskatchewan)

Connection To Province

If the applicant is graduated from outside the province of Saskatchewan, the applicant must demonstrate a certain amount of work experience obtained in the Saskatchewan.

Level of Education

To be eligible for the Student Stream, the applicant must have completed a degree, diploma or certificate program from a recognized post-secondary educational institute of Canada (outside Saskatchewan). The applicant’s graduate program must be equivalent to the minimum of one academic year (8 months) of full-time study.

Work Experience

The applicant must have gained work experience after graduation of at least 6 consecutive months (minimum 960 hours) in Canada on a Post-Graduate Work Permit, which must be paid employment for the position related to the field of study. The work experience will be considered eligible if it is gained on a Post-Graduate Work Permit.

Application Procedure

The SINP accepts applications at all times from eligible applicants of the Students stream. The eligible applicants of the stream may submit their complete application without any application fees through the SINP Online Portal. If the application is approved and the applicant is selected for the provincial nomination, the SINP will notify the applicant by email. On receiving the provincial nomination, the applicant is eligible to submit a Canadian Permanent Residence application to IRCC. The applicant has six months to submit their paper-based application for permanent residence by mailing it to the appropriate centre whereas, these applications are generally processed within 18 months.
